Oad Street Closures
Tunstall Parish Council
MESSAGE FROM NATIONAL HIGHWAYS
-
Oad Street closure - 25 April 2022
We’ll soon be starting work to widen Oad Street to allow for the new road layout at junction 5. To do this, we’ll need to close part of Oad Street between Woodgate Lane and the A249. The road will initially be closed from 25 April for six weeks, we’ll then reopen it for the summer, before closing it again in the autumn. Advanced notice will be provided ahead of the re-closure.
For drivers who would normally use Oad Street to access the A249 southbound, follow the diversion via:
- Follow the A2 to Key Street roundabout
- Take the second exit to join A249 southbound
- at Stockbury roundabout, take the second exit to continue to the A249 southbound, south of the roundabout where Oad Street joins the A249
For businesses and residents within the closures with direct access off Oad Street, please make your way to the closure point where access will be provided. For safety, we’re unable to allow anyone through our working area during the closures, this is for access only.
Access will be maintained to properties for emergency services from the Key Street side but there will be no through route.
We estimate this diversion routes will add approximately 10-15 minutes on top of the usual journey time, depending on traffic. Please allow extra time for your journey.
